Bathing & Footcare Service

Bathing Service

Many of us enjoy a bath at home to help us relax, but as we become older or our mobility decreases, this can become more difficult.

Carers Trust Thames’ bathing service means you can enjoy a soothing bath in the privacy of your own home, without any expensive bathroom alterations.

The service is aimed at people who have difficulty getting in and out of the bath, and could benefit from the assistance of a trained Care Support Worker. We provide a portable Bathing Cushion which gently supports you into and out of the bath, all at the touch of a button. It also acts as a backrest for additional comfort.

To use this service you must have reasonable upper body strength and stability and weigh less than 24 stone. The Bathing Cushion fits most standard depth rectangular baths. The service takes approximately one hour depending on your needs and preferences.

Footcare Service

Are you struggling to look after your feet? You are not alone!  Around 1 in 3 people over the age of 65 can’t cut their own toenails.

Having healthy feet is important for keeping active and reducing the risk of falls. So we have a small team of trained Care Support Workers who can help by visiting you at home to:

  • Cut and file toenails
  • Care for dry and rough skin
  • Check for cracks and breaks in the skin and inflammation such as blisters
  • Monitor foot condition and advise when a referral to the community podiatry team or doctor is appropriate.

This service takes on average 45 minutes. Clients need to purchase their own personal nail care kit from Carers Trust Thames, which remains at the home for future visits.

This service is not suitable for people with diabetes.
